‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a Digivice was stirring, not even a mouse;
The goggles were hung ’round Taichi’s neck with care,
In hopes that no digital disturbances would be there;
The Digidestined were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of real life struggles danced in their heads;
Like Takeru, suave in his fedora to replace his dorky cap
Is he with Hikari? Girlfriend? Can’t tell, but man, the poor sap
Ain’t convincing me that he and Hikari are “just friends.”
Their big bros, however, have yet to make amends
Yamato’s garage band broke up in a flash,
Sayonara Wolves, here’s Knife of Day’s big splash,
Our blondie’s perturbed that his friends can’t seem to go
To his band’s upcoming concert gig, and although
He can count on his girl Sora to appear
Is she still his girl? Or Taichi’s? Oh dear…
How fickle a teenager’s love is, and how quick
She tries to keep up her friendly trick
Fly to both places–the concert and the game.
When technology goes awry, she dials only one name:
“Oh Koushirou, you’re a genius, whatever shall I do?
My clock’s gone mad, never mind that, how can I stay true?”
Koushirou, eating dinner with style, goes off the wall
His mind bursting with theories, the answers to all.
As swiftly as Sora’s fiery winged Birdramon flies,
Black suits abduct them all. Kuwagamon takes to the skies
Except for poor Jyou-Senpai, stuck in cram school, bluer than blue
Show me Your Brave Heart! Nostalgia! Hey, there’s Mimi, too!
All together now, the Digimon face off against an old foe
Is it just me, or does Kuwagamon’s defeat seem a bit slow?
In light of recent events, the Digidestined gather around
To puzzle things out and ignore Koushirou without bound
Yamato rails against angsty Taichi all weary
Our gogglehead’s finding the casualties a bit dreary
“Taichi,” Yamato cries, “You know that I’ve got your back!
Let’s take down these monsters, send them home with a whack.
What happened to your courage? You’ve gone–dare I say it–OOC.
While you cringe and worry, our enemies shout with glee.”
Taichi, undeterred, broods still, unable to be merry
Jyou, at last, arrived late, face puffed red like a cherry
Mouth tight as his friends laugh, lips drawn up like a bow
Glasses glinting smartly, with eyes glacial as the snow
“You all have the most horrible timing
I’ve got my med school ladder to be climbing
I love Gomamon, of course, but I really can’t afford to stay
If I don’t start passing my tests, I can’t even pray
A thought of getting in, only my girlfriend’s keeping me sane.”
“Jyou-senpai’s girlfriend?” Their unified surprise was quite plain.
Meanwhile, Mimi buys candies for Digimon and flirts
While Koushiro codes a program to help him pick out shirts
When the heck did those two get along so well?
For those two anyway, for everyone else it’s not so swell.
A life beyond Digimon and adventure is hard for a Chosen to grasp,
Alphamon appears to demolish a stadium and Taichi will gasp
At the destruction, death and chaos, and freeze with dread
His friends–both human and Digimon–take the blows instead.
Yamato waits and waits before Taichi finally takes his hand,
Bromance moment! Digivolution! Omegamon’s blow fails to land.
A new Chosen–Meiko and her partner, their cheeks and eyes aglow
“Alphamon there tried to kill us–mind if we join your show?”
Happy Holidays to you all!
